CHISINAU SURE EU WILL CONTINUE ITS POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC SUPPORT

10 octomber, 2017

The Moldovan authorities have no doubt about further political and economic support by the European Union, MP Sergiu Sirbu, Deputy Chairman of the ruling Democratic Party, stated to journalists on Tuesday.

He reminded that last week he was in the European Parliament, where he attended the hearings on the situation in Moldova.

"The European Commission has not taken whatever new decision on suspending the macro-financial assistance for Moldova - absolutely no decision. The European Commission is continuing the analysis of our meeting the agreed-on conditions. It is perfectly clear that the money shall come to Moldova. Now technical questions are being discussed", explained Sergiu Sirbu.

The lawmaker confirmed that the Government had approved the changes to be introduced into the 2017 State Budget, and that all social payments, all investment projects and other financial commitments shall be fulfilled to a full extent by the end of this year.

Sergiu Sirbu repeated: "Presently, there are no changes in our previous accords concerning financing. There is no decision about suspending the financing". He named as "speculations" the certain heard assertions concerning an alleged stoppage of the funding.

"It's a real pity we have politicians here who work against Moldova's interests and thus earn their political capital. This money comes not for the authorities or the Democratic Party - the money comes for Moldova citizens. Moldova's European course is irreversible!" stated the DP Deputy Chairman. As already reported by Infotag, on Monday the Moldovan Government refuted information that Moldova "will not receive the macro-financial assistance in 2017", but confirmed at the same that the assistance will come "only in 2018".
