LIBERAL DEMOCRATS DEMAND TO KNOW WHO FUNDED THE SHOOTING OF PRO-MOLDOVA DOCUMENTARY FILM

16 november, 2017

The leaders of the parliamentary Liberal Democratic Party (LDPM) have demanded from the Information and Security Service (ISS) to establish the sources of financing of the documentary film called “The History of Moldova”, shot with the assistance of Moldovan President Igor Dodon.

Liberal Democratic Party Chairman Viorel Cibotaru stated at a news conference on Thursday the appearance of this film in the republic “is but a new stage of the hybrid war, which Russia wages against Moldova with the support rendered by President Dodon”.

In his words, “Over the first year of his office, Dodon has managed to finally downgrade the institution of the president to a Kremlin enclave acting in the interests of Russia and not of Moldova citizens”.

LDPM Deputy Chairman Tudor Deliu also believes that citizens have the right to know “who financed the film distorting the history of the Moldovan State”. Deliu wants to learn “what objectives Dodon was pursuing supporting the creation of the propaganda film”, and “whether or not the film’s second part will reflect the President’s idea that Transnistria has the right to have its own flag and self-government”.

Deliu also demanded from the President to make public the information about the expenditures on reconstruction of the magnificent Presidential Office [badly damaged yet in 2009 by the young rioters, who were calling themselves fighters for democratic values and for a pro-European development course, and would not be repaired by the subsequent generations of democratic pro-Europeans in power] and of the presidential residence at Condrita [a picturesque locality on the Dniester River bank], warning the head of state that the president can be brought to stand responsibility in case of law violation, like any other citizen of Moldova.

The Liberal Democrats demanded from Parliament Chairman Andrian Candu to “defend Moldova citizens from misinformation coming from abroad”. They also demanded from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sciences not to permit the distribution of the film in schools. They also called on Parliament Deputies and citizens to support the amending of Article 13 in the Constitution [on the name of the nation’s official language, which is, so far, Moldovan] “so that to put a final end to the blackening of the national identity and history of Moldova residents”.
