PRESIDENT DODON WANTS TO ORGANIZE ANTI-AA CONFERENCE

29 november, 2017

Moldovan President Igor Dodon is intending to organize an international conference to analyze the results and perspectives of the Republic of Moldova's cooperation with the European Union and with the Eurasian Economic Union [of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, EAES].

Dodon announced this intention in his Tuesday's meeting with Tatyana Valovaya, a Member of the Board for Integration and Macro-Economy in the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). Describing the meeting in his Facebook page afterwards, Igor Dodon said Tatyana Valovaya had come to Chisinau to participate in the 2nd conference of the joint working group for interaction between the EEC and the Republic of Moldova. The Commission and the Republic signed their Memorandum of Cooperation in April 2017.

"I expressed hope that Moldova's observer status in the EAES will be approved in 2018. I thanked the Eurasian Economic Commission for the support it renders to Moldova in this process", wrote Igor Dodon.

The head of state also announced that in June 2018, which will mark the 4th anniversary of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement signature, he is going to organize a big international conference on the Agreement, at which profiled experts should present a detailed analysis of the results and perspectives of cooperation with the European Union as well as information about the possible directions and the potential of interaction between Moldova and the EAES.

An analogous conference was held last June. It was attended by the advocates of Eurasian integration who strongly criticized the EU-Moldova Association Agreement.
