MOLDOVA’S TRADITIONAL ECONOMIC INTERESTS ARE IN THE EAST – PRESIDENT DODON

President Igor Dodon attended the second sitting of the joint working group of interaction between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Republic of Moldova, held in Chisinau on Wednesday.

“We have to cooperate and be friends with everyone, try to get to all markets both in the East and the West. However, we should clearly understand that our economic interests in traditional fields are mostly located in the East”, he stated.

He also said that it is very important to develop economic cooperation for creating jobs in the territory of Moldova.

“Agriculture has always been one of our most competitive branches. At the same time the demand for agricultural produce is mostly registered in the territory of Eurasian economic area, according to the statistical data”, Dodon stressed.

He said that the main goods, exported to the Eurasian Economic Union [of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, EAES] are: apples (98% of all the apple exports), plums, sweet cherry (73% of all exports), canned vegetables (77%), medicines (66%).

“The considerable growth of exports to the EAES countries was registered in the territory of Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan”, the President said.
