INTERNATIONAL PARLIAMENTARY ASSEMBLY TO BE HELD IN CHISINAU IN MARCH

22 february, 2018

The International Parliamentary Conference on Regional Security will take place in Chisinau on March 2, confirmed Speaker of the Parliament Andrian Candu at the Wednesday's press conference.

According to him, the conference was organized under the auspices of Chairmen of the Parliaments of Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia in cooperation with the American organization for security issues "Atlantic Council".

"We expect around 12 delegations headed by Parliament Speakers from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Sweden, Norway, Romania, Ukraine and Georgia. Besides, delegations from Slovakia, Poland and the Czech Republic headed by Deputy Speakers will come, as well as experts from the US and representatives of the European Parliament", he said.

Candu said that the main topic of discussions will be the regional security, as Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine face the same problems, connected with the territorial integrity and frozen conflicts.

"All the three countries are in the same phase of European integration, conducted on the basis of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA), as well as the simplified visa regime. We have the same problems at the level of reforms", he maintains.

According to him, Moldova did not organize such events for already around 10 years, thus the conference is very important, given the level of delegations.

Also, discussions concerning energy security, disinformation and propaganda will take place.

Candu said that delegations will start arriving to Chisinau already on March 1.
