PARLIAMENT APPROVES EXCLUSION OF BLOOD GROUP MARK FROM IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENTS

22 february, 2018

The blood group mark may be excluded from Moldovan ID-cards, passports and from diplomatic passports. The Parliament approved a corresponding draft law in a first reading.

According to the bill author Constantin Tutu of the Democratic Party, there is no need to indicate the blood group in these documents, as in case of catastrophe, accident or any other emergency situation doctors obligatorily check the blood group before transfusion.

He also said that this provision will allow simplifying the procedure of issuing documents, will reduce the time of collecting certificates, as well as can help in combating corruption.

Besides the exclusion of the blood group, the draft implies the extension of the passport validity to 10 from 7 years. However, children aged 7 through 16 will be receiving passport for a period of 7 years.
