OPPOSITION POLITICIAN GIVES EXAMPLE OF PUBLIC OPINION MANIPULATION ON DP-CONTROLLED TV CHANNELS

Deputy Chairman of the “Demnitate si Adevar” [DA, “Dignity and Justice”] Party Alexandru Slusari said that an illustrative example of public opinion manipulation and propaganda is the TV story about EU readiness to provide financial assistance to Moldova, which was broadcasted by TV channels, controlled by the current authorities.

According to him, the European Parliament deputy Siegfried Muresan said that the EU will allocate to Moldova assistance worth 284 million through 342 million for 2017-2018.

“We were ready to provide this money in early 2017, but then Moldova got a draft law on transition to the mixed voting system. Of course, the changing of the Election Code is a sovereign decision of the Moldovan state, but we agreed that the Venice Commission recommendations should be completely fulfilled: from A to Z. This is an answer to the question why the money was not allocated so far”, the Chairman of the European Parliament Committee for Budget said.

Slusari proposed to compare the European Deputy’s words with the interpretation, which appeared on a number of private TV channels, controlled by the DP. According to reports on TV channels, Muresan said that the EU is ready to invest in the Eastern Partnership considerable investments in order that Moldova to become a strong and well-governed state. The reportage also says that the change of election system is a sovereign decision of any state.
