DODON CONGRATULATES PUTIN ON ANNIVERSARY OF ESTABLISHING DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS

06 april, 2018

The Moldova-Russia relations are now going through far from their best times, but the common sense will necessarily triumph, Moldovan President Igor Dodon wrote in the congratulatory telegram he sent today to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation.

“The history of the relations between our countries and peoples has a much older age. We have been linked by same Orthodox religion, a centuries-long common history, by years of common struggle and creations”.

“Together, we opposed to the expansions of aggressive powers both from the East and from the West. Together, we defeated fascism in the Great Patriotic War [of the Soviet Union against the Hitler’s Nazi, June 22, 1941 to May 9, 1945]. And the Moldovan people will never forget all that good what Russia has done and is continuing to do for us”, wrote Igor Dodon.

The Moldovan President expressed regret that the relations between the two countries are suffering a hard period.

“Certain forces in our country and outside it would like to break the good relations between Moldova and Russia. But I am convinced that the common sense will eventually triumph and nobody will be able to cause our peoples to quarrel. We have yet much to do on the path of our cooperation and joint creative work. And I believe that our states have not only a glorious past but also a worthy future”, wrote Igor Dodon.

The Moldovan President announced earlier this week that he is looking forward to meeting Vladimir Putin during the working visit to Moscow he is projecting to pay at the end of April or in early May.
