DA PLATFORM ACCUSES MEDIA OF MISINFORMATION ABOUT ITS CANDIDATE FOR CHISINAU MAYOR

20 april, 2018

The political party called Platform "Demnitate si Adevar" [DA, "Dignity and Justice"] expressed an opinion at a press conference that the media controlled by the Plahotniuc-Dodon tandem are spreading misinformation and defamation about Andrei Nastase - the party's candidate for Chisinau mayor.

According to Dinu Plingau, Chairman of the DA Platform youth wing, the Publika TV channel has recently aired fake information about Nastase that he allegedly owns 11 houses in Moldova and a mansion in Germany.

"This information is an example of manipulation of public opinion; it proves that the ruling regime conducts a media campaign against a single candidate of anti-oligarchic forces. Andrei Nastase owns only one house in Chisinau", stated Plingau.

"The DA Platform has already been through this while preparing for the presidential elections in 2016; we know how these mechanisms work; the party is ready to respond decently. The Plahotniuc-Dodon tandem cannot offer anything new about; fake news has no more impact on citizens", said Alexander Slusari, wondering why "the controlled media" spreads no information about Ion Ceban (PSRM candidate for Chisinau mayor).

Andrei Nastase, the Chairman of the DA Platform, urged journalists to be out of such campaigns, and to avoid spreading of false information.

He also criticized Silvia Radu's activity on the post of acting Chisinau Mayor, noting that she spends 2 million lei on a carpet of flowers, which no longer exists, instead of solving real problems of the city and the catastrophic situation in its suburbs.

"These actions prove the fact that Radu is a candidate independent from the city resident and their problems, but dependent on Vlad Plahotniuc", said Nastase.
