24 may, 2018

Last two days, Moldovan President Igor Dodon held extensive consultations with the leaders of the public organization “Delovaya Rossiya” [“Business Russia”].

Describing the meetings on his Facebook page, Dodon wrote that, in particular, he met in Chisinau with Delovaya Rossiya Chairman Igor Chaika, and “in a easy natural atmosphere, we discussed a whole spectrum of important questions of Moldo-Russian economic cooperation, first and foremost the question of Russian investment in the Moldovan economy”.

“Russian people of business stand ready to invest heavily in our economy, create new enterprises and jobs. For this, however, they need favorable conditions for efficient activities”, wrote Igor Dodon.

He thanked the prominent Russian businessman for the decision to fully finance the restoration of a historic, magnificent monument built in Vulcanesti (southern Moldova) yet in the 19th century on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Russian Army’s victory in the Battle of Cahul in 1770.

“The repair works are already going on under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Moldova and of the Bashkan of Gagauzia [an autonomous region in southern Moldova]. The unveiling of the revived monument has been scheduled for the autumn of 2018. We also discussed questions of the organization in Chisinau of a Moldo-Russian business forum to be held in September”, wrote Dodon.

On Wednesday, the head of state met also with Delovaya Rossiya Deputy Chairman Andrei Nazarov, “who came to Chisinau for a working visit on my invitation”, Dodon wrote. The two also discussed preparation for the Moldo-Russian business forum that will be held in the Moldovan capital on September 20-22. There were no reports about Nazarov’s other meetings in Chisinau.

Well-informed sources told Infotag that Nazarov came to Chisinau on board a chartered airplane on Tuesday, so that on Wednesday a Moldovan delegation led by President Dodon would fly to Saint Petersburg on that very plain. The delegation included also Mrs. Galina Dodon, Gagauzia Bashkan Irina Vlah, Presidential Advisers Elena Gorelova and Aurel Ciocoi, Socialist MP Vladimir Golovatiuc and the Moldovan Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Russia, Andrei Neguta. The official delegation did not include whatever representatives of the Moldovan Government.

At the same time, Moldovan news agency Omega wrote with reference to its own sources that Igor Dodon flew to Russia on board a Bombardier Challenger 850 airplane belonging to private Sirius Aero – Russia’s largest business aviation corporation.

“According to the information available, the flight (including landings) of this airplane by the route Moscow – Chisinau – Saint Petersburg – Chisinau – Moscow costs more than 120 thousand euros. The Moldovan authorities have not reported anything about the origin of the money paid for this charter voyage or about the legitimacy of accepting such presents by a state official in the rank of a president”, wrote the Omega portal.

The Moldovan presidential press service has not commented on that information.
