MOLDOVAN SPEAKER ATTENDING SECOND PARLIAMENTARY CONFERENCE OF UKRAINE, MOLDOVA AND GEORGIA

08 june, 2018

Moldovan Parliament Chairman Andrian Candu is participating in the 2nd Inter-Parliamentary Conference “Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova: Strengthening of the Inter-Parliamentary Regional Component, of Safe Cooperation and Development of Interaction with EU and NATO” that opened in Kiev city on Friday.

As was already reported by Infotag, it is expected that the Kiev forum will sign a document on establishing a Parliamentary Assembly of Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine.

Earlier, Ukrainian Supreme Rada Chairman Andrii Parubii called the creation of such structure an important step for all the three countries concerned, “which are jointly making their way to accession to the European Union”.

Parubii pointed out last month that e.g. the Parliamentary Assembly of Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania had demonstrated its efficiency.

“The new organization will demonstrate to the world the global threats coming from the Russian Federation because in all our three countries Russia has occupied parts of our national territories. Besides this, Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova are united by a common desire to join the European Union. And with Georgia, we are marching towards joining NATO”, reminded the Ukrainian Speaker.

The three countries held their 1st Parliamentary Assembly in Chisinau last March 2, when the three Speakers decided to unite efforts in promoting a common policy of defense and security.

The Chisinau Conference was organized in partnership with the Atlantic Council. In Chisinau the participants discussed problems related to information security, energy, defense, to a stable economic growth and to building law-governed states in the region. That Conference was attended by about 150 officials and high-level experts, including the three Speakers concerned, Members of the European Parliament, representatives of the United States Congress, prominent international and regional experts.
