Moldova consistently achieves the realization of important-most reforms and seeks to fulfill the EU-Moldova Association Agreement, Timo Soini, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, stated at the news conference he gave on Thursday in the course of his working visit to Chisinau.

The diplomat called the Association Agreement "the important-most instrument of cooperation between Moldova and European Union countries, which means higher standards for Moldova and consolidation of trade relations with EU".

"Finland supports Moldova's democratic development, its approximation with the European Union, realization of a package of necessary reforms, struggle against corruption, creation of an effective civil society and the independent mass media, as well as consolidation of the positions of a law-governed state", said the diplomat.

Timo Soini also underscored Moldova's successful steps toward Transnistrian conflict settlement. He expressed hope that the negotiation process will be continued and will be productive, and that the trust building between the sides will lead to positive changes in resolving the Transnistrian question.

Moldova's Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Tudor Ulianovschi said the visit paid to Chisinau by his colleague from Finland serves an extra proof of the development and consolidation of bilateral relations between the two countries.

"We have discussed the most important questions that concern both Moldova and Finland, in particular regional security, an increase of the trade turnover, economic development. Our dialog was sincere, open and constructive", said Tudor Ulianovschi.

He said Moldova will continue strengthening its relationship with Finland and implementing reforms to achieve further successes on its European path.
