MOLDOVAN AUTHORITIES' STATEMENTS ABOUT EP RESOLUTION ARE HYPOCRITICAL - EUROPEAN MP

11 july, 2018

European Parliament MP from the faction of European Conservatives and Reformists Monica Macovei said that the statements, made by Moldovan authorities about the recently adopted resolution on the political crisis in Moldova are hypocritical.

In an interview to Radio Free Europe she said that in statements, made by the DP representatives and its Chairman Vlad Plahotniuc there are clear discrepancies - on one hand, he says that the party will continue following the European path, while on the other hand - that the party will not be taken into account as before.

"That is the DP adheres to the European course, but will not fulfill the EU conditions, on the fulfillment of which the started process of reforms depends. The Resolution just keeps insisting on fulfilling the stated liabilities - the creation of an independent justice, which is still politicized and selective in issuing decisions; the conducting of investigation the bank fraud. All this should be done for the benefit of Moldovan citizens, who need such changes", the MP said.

According to her, Moldovan citizens do not have an independent justice and this is confirmed by declaring the Chisinau mayoral election results as invalid, which raised bewilderment among both citizens and development partners.

"Plahotniuc is talking about a direct EU support to the oppositional parties [DA, PAS and LDPM], but it is not about support, but about the fact that the authorities deprived the opposition of citizens' votes, received by means of democratic elections, and did not allow Andrei Nastase to go to the Chisinau Primaria. The EU is trying to tell that the authorities committed this mistake, but have to correct it", the PM said.
