MOLDOVA BECOMING A LAUNDRY FOR SHADY MONEY – OPPOSITIONIST

08 august, 2018

The incumbent Moldovan authorities, controlled by Vlad Plahotniuc [chairman of the ruling Democratic Party], are converting Moldova into kind of an offshore zone and a laundry for money having very dubious origins, believes Alexandru Slusari, Deputy Chairman of the political party called Platform “Demnitate si Adevar” [DA, “Dignity and Justice”].

He wrote on his Facebook page that amnesties of capitals are periodically made in the republic, and that until now no real investigation of the large-scale bank fraud has been carried out.

The opposition politician is convinced that the selling of the Moldovan citizenship in exchange for investment [one of the latest initiatives by the ruling Democratic Party] presents practically no interest to European investors, but can attract shady persons from third world countries.

Alexandru Slusari drew attention to yet another step by the authorities: taxes on well-off citizens have been substantially lowered, which he believes has been linked with the impetuous development of the infrastructure of entertainments – hotels, casinos, night clubs, restaurants, bars etc.

He believes Moldova has taken the path of many offshore states.

“But there is yet an important detail. If you study the list of some 40 offshore countries, which are mostly insular states, you will see that their populations do not usually exceed a few hundred thousand people. Perhaps the only exception here is Panama with a population comparable with Moldova’s. But that country receives tremendous incomes from the Panama Canal. Now it becomes clear why more than an million Moldovans have been forced out of their native country, and the process is continuing intensively. For the dream of Plahotniuc’s to become a reality, it is necessary to throw away at least one million more people from Moldova”, presumes Alexandru Slusari.
