DA PLATFORM CALLS MAYORS TO JOIN OPPOSITION TO SAVE MOLDOVA

Andrei Nastase, Chairman of the political party called Platform “Demnitate si Adevar” [DA, “Dignity and Justice”], has sent an open letter to the mayors of all Moldovan populated areas with an appeal to “join the pro-European opposition for saving Moldova”.

“Moldova is going through an uneasy period when the grassroots cannot tolerate any longer the current inhuman living conditions and when the authorities are not able to provide any worthy future for citizens. As a result, the youth and the most active part of the population are thus forced to leave the country, leaving their children in charge of their pension-age parents”, said the letter.

Its author wrote that the authorities are pressing, blackmailing, victimizing, starting criminal litigations against the representatives of local governance organs, forcing them to send to the European Union petitions, in which the blame for suspension of the macro-financial assistance is put on the Moldovan anti-oligarchic opposition.

“But the European Union’s decision to suspend the assistance was not due to the opposition’s activities but due to the actions by the incumbent authorities who haven’t fulfilled practically anything from what they had promised to foreign partners: they have not cancelled the mixed election system, have not investigated into the one-billion-euro bank fraud, have not realized the judiciary reform, and have not cancelled their decision to invalidate the mayoral election in Chisinau. So, the European Union has decided to give no money to this regime in Moldova”, believes Andrei Nastase.

He stressed that provincial Primarias [town, raion and village executive organs] have been under the meticulous attention of the Plahotniuc regime that intends to put regional and local authorities under its control as well.

Nastase called local mayors to consolidate forces for the sake of saving Moldova and invited them and their locality residents to join the August 26 protest rally in Chisinau, “for this is the only possible way to defeat the usurper”, wrote the opposition politician.
