MOLDOVANS SHOW SOLIDARITY WITH PROTESTERS IN ROMANIA

13 august, 2018

Several dozen persons in Moldova gathered for an action of solidarity with protesters in Romania.

The support action took place before the monument to King Stefan cel Mare in central Chisinau on Sunday evening. It was organized by the National Resistance Movement ACUM [uniting Right-wing opposition organizations – the DA Platform, the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) and the Liberal Democratic Party], whose leaders stated: “We should learn from our Romanian brothers how to get mobilized for struggle against anti-people regimes”.

In their opinion, Romania’s experience and lessons are priceless in the context of the organization of a massive action of protest in Chisinau scheduled for August 26.

Last Friday, August 10, actions of protest with a demand to dismiss the incumbent Romanian government were held all over Romania. In major cities, the protesting was attended by 10-15 thousand people, and in Bucharest – over 100,000 protesters.

During the action, unrest and clashes with police took place. The gendarmerie used water jets and tear gas. As a result, over 500 people were injured, and more than 60 persons were hospitalized, including more that 20 gendarmes.
