DA PLATFORM LEADER DEMANDS TO INSTITUTE LEGAL PROCEEDINGS AGAINST PRESIDENT DODON

14 august, 2018

Andrei Nastase, Chairman of the political party called Platform “Demnitate si Adevar” [DA, “Dignity and Justice”], has addressed to the Prosecutor General's Office with a demand to initiate proceedings against President Igor Dodon on the basis of Article 330/2 of the Criminal Code “Illicit Enrichment”.

Nastase wrote in the social networks on Tuesday: “During his whole career, Dodon has been on the public service. But look at the castle he lives in. Look how he squanders money. Can one live so on the salary of a civil servant? That’s why I demand that the Prosecutor General's Office institute legal proceedings against the President. Please regard this post of mine as an official application”.

In his words, Dodon’s entire political career “has been woven of treachery and lies”.

“He betrayed Voronin [Communist Party leader] shortly after accepting a party membership card from his hands. Dodon used to state that the Customs Union has no perspective, but later he began asserting that Moldova just cannot survive without the Union. Acting through his kum [godfather of his son], Dodon used to collaborate very efficiently with Ilan Shor [prominent businessman and the Mayor of Orhei town], who financed Dodon’s election campaign in Chisinau in 2011”, wrote Andrei Nastase.

The DA Platform leader reminded that during his 2016 presidential campaign, Igor Dodon demanded that opposition candidates sign a commitment not to collaborate with the Democratic Party, but throughout nearly 2 years of his presidency, Dodon has always helped Plahotniuc [DP leader] to solve his strategic tasks such as e.g. the inviolability of the Prosecutor General, appointment of Vasile Botnari as Head of Moldovagaz, appointment of all ambassadors and judges, amendment of the electoral system, “railroading of the Law on the thievish scheme for building the Chisinau Arena, which will bring a financial damage in the excess of a billion lei” to the State Budget.

“Not a single television address to the nation concerning the situation in the country. Not a single speech in the Parliament. Not a single organized rally of protest against the incumbent regime. For two years, we could see from our President only concerts, hunting sessions, riding on quadracycles, picking of strawberries and numerous overseas voyages on leave at the State expense”, wrote the opposition politician.

Nastase further held: “In his election program Dodon swore to find and return the stolen billion dollars and to spare citizens from the need to repay the money from their pockets. But he even did not try to initiate a referendum on cancelling the Law on the stolen money repayment by citizens in a double size, though the Election Code authorizes the head of state to organize such a referendum”.

“Moreover, a few days ago the President promulgated the Law on capital amnesty having thus switched on the green light to a very probable legalization of the stolen money and to laundering of other dirty money merely for 3% of the cost. After all this, one can say confidently that Dodon is an accomplice to the bank fraud. So, can a dozen voyages to Putin without tangible results for Moldova be more important for someone than a puppet president, who has not done anything over the past 2 years to stop the degradation of the country?” wondered Andrei Nastase.
