DA DEPUTY CHAIRMAN CRITICIZES GOVERNMENT’S INTENTION TO SEND COUNTRY INTO 9-DAY-LONG VACATION

16 august, 2018

Alexandru Slusari, Deputy Chairman of the political party called Platform “Demnitate si Adevar” [DA, “Dignity and Justice”], has strongly criticized the Government’s unexpected intention to announce 9 calendar days at the end of August as a no-work period. Though, he wrote in the Facebook, over the 27 years of Moldova’s independence, a specific practice has formed here of announcing days-off in the period of August 27-31.

“In years when Saturdays and Sundays happen to be between these two holiday dates, the Government usually announced such days between August 27 and 31 as no-work days. But in the absence of Saturdays and Sundays between the Independence Day and Limba Noastra, August 28, 29 and 30 remained usual working days. Precisely such a calendar situation is awaiting us in 2018: the Independence Day of August 27 will be Monday, while the Limba Noastra Day of August 31 – Friday”, wrote Alexandru Slusari.

He further held unfolding his ‘research’, reminding that according to an old tradition, at the end of every year all Governments in Moldova usually analyzed the forthcoming year and determined which transfers would be necessary due to various holidays. That tradition was repeated in December 2017, when Prime Minister Pavel Filip stated that “it is very important to let citizens know beforehand the list of no-work days so that they could plan their leaves and vacations well in advance”.

“But last December, nobody certainly knew about a would-be vacation on August 25 to September 2. Oh, what a generous present from the ruling regime – whole 9 days of rest! The independent Moldova has never seen such a luxury. Our authorities do not need Independence [August 27], they already have one – independence of their own compatriots. We give you 9 days, so dear citizens, clean out of here – the farther the better. Only don’t come out for the protesting on August 26 in Chisinau”, wrote Slusari.

Addressing to compatriots, the opposition politician wrote: “Now you understand, citizens, how the ruling Mafia are afraid of our unity and our massive appearance in the Chisinau central square on August 26? If we are really many, we will be able to change this power without violence yet before the parliamentary elections”.
