26 august, 2018

Participants of the protest, organized by the ACUM National Resistance Movement, demanded Government resignation and criminal prosecution of those who are involved in the stealing of the billion from the country banks. This is said in a Resolution, adopted on Sunday evening.

The “Resolution of General Meeting of Moldovan Citizens”, the Government is accused of population impoverishment and massive migration; the external financing failure; the threat to further implementation of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement. The authors of the document express deep concern about anti-Democratic actions of the authorities, as well as lack of progress in investigating the stealing of the billion from banks.

The Resolution contains requirements on canceling the mixed election system; organizing and conducting free and correct elections on the basis of proportionate system; recognition of the Chisinau mayor election results, which were cancelled by courts; the stop of opposition persecution.

Authors of the Resolution demand to cancel the laws on capital amnesty, recently adopted by the Parliament against the will of the civil opinion and against the international partners’ requests. The document contains a demand on adopting the Magnitsky Law, which is able to ensure integrity and incorruptibility of Moldovan officials.

The protesters also demanded criminal prosecution of Moldovan citizens, including in the territory of the EU countries, where the actions with the money stolen in Moldova continued. The ACUM Movement started raising citizens’ signatures in this regard.
