DP REPUDIATES MOLDOVA’S PRO-EUROPEAN PATH AND PREPARED TO FORM COALITION WITH SOCIALISTS – PROMINENT LIBERAL

17 september, 2018

The ruling Democratic Party repudiates Moldova’s pro-European path in favor of a pro-Moldova policy for the subsequent creation of a coalition with the Party of Socialists [PSRM], presumes Liberal Party Deputy Chairman Valeriu Munteanu, a former parliamentarian and ex-Minister of Environment.

In his words, the statements made by Vlad Plahotniuc last Friday after the DP National Council meeting speak in favor of such a turn.

“Dodon [President of Moldova and the unofficial PSRM leader] stands on the same position – pro-Moldovan. The DP Chairman’s statement is actually a recognition of the domestic and international isolation of the incumbent regime. By means of such a fundamental change, the DP leader recognizes the erroneousness of the European integration he has spoken about so much”, said Munteanu.

He named as “tragicomic” the DP leader’s words that the Democratic Party is refusing to look for solution of citizens’ problems outside the country and, instead, will concentrate on dialog with people to jointly determine priority problems and ways to solving them.

“The people of Moldova have already determined their chief problem that will be emptying their pockets next 20 years – the one-billion-dollar bank fraud. Why are the authorities making such a fuss of Ilan Shor [Moldova’s prominent businessman and the Mayor of Orhei town], who is one of the main players in the robbery of the people?” wondered the ex-minister.
