LDPM WILL STAND FOR PARLIAMENT AS PART OF ACUM BLOC

10 december, 2018

The Liberal Democratic Party will participate in the February 24, 2019 parliamentary election as a part of the opposition voting bloc ACUM uniting, so far, the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) and the political party called Platform "Demnitate si Adevar" [DA, "Dignity and Justice"].

LDPM Chairman Tudor Deliu told the press that the decision was taken at the Sunday's sitting of the LDPM Political Bureau, when accession to the ACUM voting bloc was supported by 40-of-71 party leadership figures who attended the sitting. DA Platform Deputy Chairman Alexandru Slusari welcomed the Liberal Democrats' decision and stressed that ACUM is open to the representatives of all political parties but on condition that they are real professionals and are ready to go through 'selection filters'.

Liberal Party Deputy Chairman Valeriu Munteanu also supported the LDPM's choice and wrote in the social networks that "this is a little step in terms of raising the Party's responsibility, but a big leap for stopping the Plahotniuc/Dodon binomial and for restoring democracy and the rule of law in the Republic of Moldova for its subsequent unification with Romania".

Earlier, Liberal Party Chairman Dorin Chirtoaca used to stand up for creating a united opposition force for participating in the parliamentary election. However, DA Platform Chairman Andrei Nastase refuted information concerning the holding of whatever negotiations with the Liberals.
