PRESIDENT DODON PROMISES THAT THE LAWS TO BE PROMULGATED BY "ACTING PRESIDENT" SHALL BE CANCELLED AFTER ELECTIONS

11 december, 2018

President Igor Dodon wrote on his Facebook page today that the laws, to be promulgated by suspending him from the post, shall be cancelled shortly after the February 24, 2019 parliamentary election.

Commenting on the decision of the Constitutional Court, which has entrusted the presidential powers temporarily to the Parliament Chairman or to Prime Minister, Dodon wrote that he had refused to promulgate "these anti-people laws adopted by the outgoing parliamentary majority".

"I shall not agree to concessions on either of these documents, and I am sure the people of Moldova will support me in this. After the February parliamentary election, all these laws shall be cancelled. Also, a new Constitutional Court shall be formed", wrote the head of state.

At the news conference held after the ceremony of swearing in of the new Minister of Finance, Igor Dodon said that the 5 laws in question, for whose promulgation the Constitutional Court suspended him from the presidential post, had been challenged by him with this very Constitutional Court.

"We believe that the legal procedure was violated. The Constitutional Court must have first spoken out on these laws, and only after that - to decide concerning promulgation. But at any rate after the elections these laws, as well as other analogous documents, will become null and void", stated the President.
