GOVERNMENT DID ITS BEST TO ENSURE FREE ELECTIONS - PREMIER

Prime Minister Pavel Filip received a mission of international experts of the National Democratic Institute (NDI), who arrived to Chisinau for assessing the process of preparation for parliamentary elections on February 24.

According to the Government, he said that the government adopted all the necessary measures for organizing free, transparent and fair election process on the basis of all the democratic norms.

Filip said that in particular, it was decided to install video cameras at polling stations for raising the election process transparency, while for removing inconsistencies in legislation, the Silence Day on the eve of the election was cancelled, as well as the restriction on election propaganda within 100 meters from polling stations.

The sides agreed on the importance of opening sufficient number of polling stations abroad. The premier said that the launched procedure of online registration of compatriots abroad will allow to clearer establish where and how many polling stations should be opened to guarantee compatriots' election right.

According to him, the Government is open for participation of the largest possible number of local and international observers for monitoring the parliamentary election, inviting the NDI to come to Moldova with an observing mission both during the election campaign and directly on the election day.
