PARLIAMENTARY OPPOSITION REFUSES TO HEAR GOVERNMENT'S REPORT

14 december, 2018

All the oppositional parties in the parliament refused to participate in the sitting on Friday, when the Government's annual report is being heard. Faction leaders said that they do not want to take part in this show.

Honorary Chairman of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu said: "Prime Minister Pavel Filip is going to present a report on Government's activity over three years, since 2016. We regard this as incorrect. In 2016, the Liberal Party was also a part of the ruling coalition and participated in the country governing. It is then when reforms were implemented and results were achieved. Do not brag with someone else's results". Ghimpu added that the LP faction deputies are leaving the sitting hall.

Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party Tudor Deliu said that authorities decided to hold this cheap show due to the upcoming elections.

"In violation of all procedures, we received the governmental report yesterday in the evening. It tells about some achievements that do not exist in reality. All this is intended cloud the eyes of the electorate before elections. We do not want to participate in this show", Deliu said.

He was supported by Chairman of the Communist Party Vladimir Voronin.

"We were concerned about the very name of the Government's report - "On the results...". What results are they talking about, what successes? They pushed the country over the edge, the people reached extreme poverty. We will neither listen to these tales of Prime Minister", Voronin said.

During the hearing of the Government, only MPs of the ruling majority remained in the sitting room - factions of the Democratic Party and the European People's Party of Moldova.
