PAS AND DA PLATFORM HAVE OFFICIALLY UNITED INTO VOTING BLOC ACUM

On Sunday, Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) Chairperson Maya Sandu and Andrei Nastase, Chairman of the political party called Platform “Demnitate si Adevar” [DA, “Dignity and Justice”], signed an official agreement on their forming the voting bloc called ACUM for participation in the February 24, 2019 parliamentary election.

The document stipulates that the bloc will be governed by a Political Council, which will include, besides Sandu and Nastase, six more representatives from the said two parties. The Council’s duties will consist of the drawing up of the lists of candidates for the all-republican voting district and single-member constituencies; the forming of initiative groups for raising citizens’ signatures in support of ACUM candidates in single-member constituencies; governance of the ACUM election fund account; the general coordination of the ACUM election campaign strategy.

According to the agreement, the voting bloc ACUM will complete its activities in 3 days after the parliamentary election recognition by the Constitutional Court, if no other decision is taken by the bloc leadership before that.

Andrei Nastase stated after the signature ceremony: “Nothing and nobody can prevent the people’s desire to achieve freedom, an independent judiciary and an effective economy in Moldova. For this, however, a firm will and hard labor are needed. The incumbent authorities want to disunite is, but they have no chance to – before the face of civil unity and solidarity”.

PAS leader Maya Sandu stated that the bloc’s main objectives are the sparing of Moldova of the rule of thieves and corrupt officials, which can be achieved only by joint efforts.
