PRESIDENT IGOR DODON CALLS ON HUNGARY TO SUPPORT MOLDOVA'S EFFORTS ON STRENGTHENING NEUTRALITY

President Igor Dodon wrote on his Facebook page about his meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Peter Szijjarto.

"I stressed that I am an adherent to the achieving of balance in the foreign policy on the basis of developing mutually profitable relations with countries of both the East and the West. I called on Hungary to demonstrate interest to supporting our efforts on strengthening the neutrality status of Moldova, which is a basic condition of the national, energy and informational security and country prosperity", Dodon wrote.

According to him, the interlocutors exchanged opinions on developing dialog in the fields of common interest, as well as the situation in the internal and external policy.

"I welcomed the visit of Hungarian delegation to Moldova and stressed the convergence of views on many questions of paramount importance for our countries. We agreed that the national interest should prevail in all the actions, undertaken for the benefit of our countries", the President wrote.

He said that over 26 years since the establishing of diplomatic relations, Moldova has signed around 60 bilateral agreements in various fields with Hungary.

"I thanked the Hungarian minister for financial and socio-humanitarian assistance, provided to Moldova in many fields and spoke for raising the trade turnover between our countries and the deepening of bilateral cooperation. I also expressed confidence that good relations of friendship and cooperation between Moldova and Hungary at the level of leadership and the people will be incremental in various fields of mutual interest", Dodon stressed.
