ACUM ACCUSES RULING PARTY OF ‘INFORMATION WARFARE’, DEMANDS TO DEREGISTER IT FROM ELECTION CAMPAIGN

15 february, 2019

The voting bloc ACUM [uniting two Right-wing opposition organizations – the DA Platform and the Party of Action and Solidarity, PAS] has accused the ruling Democratic Party of waging a large-scale “information warfare”, and is preparing to officially demand de-registration of DP as an election contestant.

ACUM Deputy Chairperson Maya Sandu stated at a news conference on Friday that the Democratic Party and its satellites resort daily to all sorts of law violations by using administrative resources, by bribing voters, by concealing real expenditures and what not.

“But the biggest one of their violations is misinformation. The country’s largest media holding belonging to the regime spends the millions stolen from citizens in order to confuse these very citizens before the voting day. The Democrats have flooded also online resources by waging a well-staged campaign to discredit the opposition and to eulogize the authorities”, maintained the former Minister of Education.

In her words, the DP-led regime “derives inspiration from the Kremlin” by having created a whole factory of trolls, which uses the same methods as those which had an influence on the presidential elections in the United States”.

“We knew about this factory yet earlier. But now it is clear that the factory is linked with the Government. And help to this job was rendered by the Facebook, which has removed 168 profiles and 28 pages from its network as well as 8 registered Instagram entries. The company also reported that those resources had been steered by governmental officials. All these actions are proving that the incumbent regime does not need fair or free elections”, stated Maya Sandu.

She also condemned “the Democrats’ primitive methods, who are trying to make me out a Lesbian”.

“But I am not present at their photographs! I have never been a Lesbian. This is but a savagely tailored fake aimed not only against me but against all voters”, stated Maya Sandu.

She reminded to the ruling regime representatives that the more violations they make, the higher is the risk of election non-recognition by the international community.

ACUM parliamentary candidate Sergiu Litvinenco said that the Bloc is going to submit to the Central Election Commission 7 complaints against the Democratic Party, including one concerning the participation of ministries’ state secretaries in Vlad Plahotniuc’s campaign. ACUM is going to demand de-registration of the Democratic Party from the parliamentary campaign on the basis of Facebook data.
