MOLDOVA HAS NOT EVEN DISTANT PROSPECTS FOR JOINING THE EU - EXPERT

Moldova should not dream about a full membership in the European Union, for sure not even in a long-term perspective, maintains Doctor in Politics, Associate Professor of the State Institute for International Relations of Moldova (IRIM) Sergiu Nazaria.

In an interview for Eurasia.expert analytical portal, he said that Moldova has the association with the EU, which in fact is the maximum Europeans accepted, but no one of high-ranked European officials has ever been thinking about a possible full membership for Moldova.

"This year there are elections to the European Parliament. After that, the positions of Euro-skeptics will even strengthen. It is difficult to forecast how many votes they will get. Perhaps they will not take the majority, but their positions will strengthen", the political scientist says.

The expert stressed that on this grounds, it is absurd to say that the future leadership of the EU will stand for accepting Moldova as member, this will never happen.

"Moreover, not a single country, maybe except Romania, will not stand for accepting Moldova in the EU. Even Romania will be doing this by means of absorbing Moldova, annexing it. I do not know is it luckily or not, but we do not have any perspectives of accessing the EU", the expert said.

As Infotag has already reported, one of priorities of election program of the ACUM election bloc is the Moldova's submitting of application for membership in the EU by 2023.
