IF PARTIES DO NOT CHANGE THEIR DEMANDS, SNAP ELECTION WILL BE INEVITABLE – SOCIALIST MP
If the parliamentary parties’ demands are not re-considered, Moldova will hardly avoid an early parliamentary election, believes Socialist MP Bogdan Tardea, a political scientist, who offered some conclusions on the results of the negotiations Moldova President Igor Dodon had held with the leaders of the Party of Socialists, the Democratic Party and the voting bloc ACUM on Tuesday.
Today Bogdan Tardea wrote in the social networks that “ACUM put forward really intriguing proposals: first you vote for the 7 bills of ours, i.e. you give us the posts of the Prosecutor General (ACUM calls him ‘European Prosecutor’), heads of the National Anti-Corruption Center (NACC), the Information and Security Service (ISS) etc. And only after that Maya Sandu agrees to become Prime Minister and Andrei Nastase – Parliament Speaker, after which ACUM will form a minority government”.
“In plainer words, we will be governing the country all by ourselves, the Government will all consist of ACUM ministers, and you will be voting in parliament, supporting our initiatives! How nice!”
“The Democratic Party also stood up with interesting proposals: the premier is actually yours, but it is better to have a technical, neutral premier, i.e. again a Democrat. Concerning concrete ministries, we can discuss this, but don’t forget that the ministries are staffed with our state secretaries, who are steering everything there. And we shall not give the Prosecutor General’s post to anybody, for this is sacred. Concerning the NACC and ISS, we will think yet but most probably will not give them to anybody. But we’ll be thinking for the time being”, wrote the Socialist ironically.
Bogdan Tardea described also the position of the Party of Socialists: first to discuss a general program and agenda of country governance, then to form a parliamentary majority, and then to discuss the structure of the power.
Analyzing the negotiation results, Bogdan Tardea arrived at a conclusion that the President’s role has strengthened.
“Igor Dodon has created a platform for negotiations, and everybody came. First post-election contacts between party leaders and the President began – a thing that did not happen before. ACUM put forward a formula of power, though before they used to speak only of their being oppositional to the regime. The Party of Socialists has received a chance to take part in governing the country – for the first time over last 10 years. But a snap election is still looming. And if the parties’ demands are not changed, there shall be an early parliamentary election in Moldova”, wrote the expert.
