“WHAT CAN WE TALK ABOUT WITH SUCH PEOPLE?” – SOCIALIST MP ABOUT ACUM

10 april, 2019

MP Bogdan Tardea of the Socialist faction has expressed bewilderment about the reaction shown by the ACUM bloc leaders that followed after the presentation of the list of priorities, on the basis of which the Socialists are ready to hold political discussions.

Writing on his Facebook page on Tuesday, Bogdan Tardea expressed indignation that ACUM is refusing to support the candidacy of Zinaida Greceanii, Chairperson of the Party of Socialists, for the Parliament Speaker’s post, and is going to insist on forming a minority government to be headed by Premier Maya Sandu, the leader of the Party of Action and Solidarity.

“So, you’ve got their point, haven’t you? Andrei Nastase [DA Platform leader] goes for Parliament Speaker, Maya Sandu – for Prime Minister, the Party of Socialists is sent to the opposition camp (and in a year – to jail). But unlike a usual opposition, the PSRM, in addition, must vote for everything to be proposed by Maya Sandu (closure of schools and hospitals? accession to NATO?). Hearing all this, what can we talk with such people about?” wondered the Socialist.

Bogdan Tardea reminded that the PSRM has actually repeated its priorities that were presented at a news conference earlier as a basis for negotiations, so that potential partners could scrutinize them and put forward their counter-proposals.

“You understand the essence of the situation? The PSRM is ready to give the Premier’s post and key ministries to the bloc that has merely 26 mandates [in the 101-member Parliament of Moldova]! And what happened next? In about 30 minutes after the Socialists’ news conference, Maya Sandu just pulled into pieces all of the Socialists’ proposals – in her typical arrogant manner, as if demanding: where is the struggle against oligarchs, and where is your statement about the captured state? Simply put, their stance on aversion of negotiations was prepared beforehand”, presumes political scientist Bogdan Tardea.

“May I repeat what is known to every teenager: the formation of a parliamentary majority and a government will automatically spare the country of the phenomenon of a captured state. All the incumbent top figures in the Central Election Commission, Constitutional Court, Audiovisual Council, Information and Security Service (ISS), the Prosecutor General's Office will immediately tender resignations, and some of them will fly somewhere abroad on the same day. Your allegedly anti-oligarchic draft laws are but a flagrant lie! They cannot be approved without a parliamentary majority or without electing the Parliament’s working bodies. But despite all this, the Party of Socialists is still ready to negotiations and still hopes for the prudence of the ACUM leaders”, wrote Bogdan Tardea.
