12 june, 2019

President Igor Dodon gave an interview to foreign journalists on Tuesday, saying that in order to avoid destabilization in the country, the power should be transmitted peacefully.

He wrote on his Facebook page that he gave interviews to the France Presse Agency, The New York Times newspaper, to Russian TV channels “NTV” and “Russia”, discussing the current situation in the country and scenarios of its further development.

“Moldova is going through a historical stage. Changes have happened the Moldovan people have long waited for. The new parliamentary majority and the new Government are supported by roughly 90% of the population and the main external partners: the EU, the US and Russia”, Dodon said.

He stressed that the new Moldovan leadership will continue fulfilling agreements, signed with the EU and will rehabilitate relations with the Russian Federation.

“Given the difficult situation in the country, I pointed that we stand for a peaceful transmission of duties and if there is even a smallest chance to avoid destabilization of the situation in the country, we will use it”, Dodon assured.
