SLUSARI SAYS EX-SPEAKER CANDU SHOULD BE DE-IMMUNIZED

09 august, 2019

The previous Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament, Deputy Chairman of the Democratic Party MP Andrian Candu should be deprived of his parliamentary immunity and should brought to stand criminal responsibility for a bank fraud, believes incumbent Deputy Speaker Alexandru Slusari, Chairman of the parliamentary ad hoc commission on the investigation of the one-billion-dollar bank fraud.

In an interview with the Cotidianul newspaper of Chisinau, Slusari said that Candu has always played an important role in the Plahotniuc’s surrounding and e.g. in 2011 Candu was representing the Plahotniuc-controlled ITIV Prime Company in the transaction of selling the shares of BEM [Banca de Economii a Moldovei, the savings bank] to business tycoon Veaceslav Platon.

Slusari maintains that Candu must stand responsibility for service negligence because in 2014, being a Deputy Premier and Minister of Economy, he was one of those who promoted the providing of governmental security to the National Bank, which issued time deposits to three banks [Banca de Economii, Banca Sociala and Unibank] to maintain their liquidity.

“There is collective responsibility in all that. Somebody’s blame is more, somebody’s less, and somebody stood behind them. A criminal litigation ought to be initiated against 4 persons – Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, Andrian Candu, National Bank President Dorin Dragutanu, and Finance Minister Anatol Arapu”, presumes Alexandru Slusari.
