DP GOING TO NOMINATE VLADIMIR CEBOTARI AS CANDIDATE FOR CHISINAU MAYOR

16 september, 2019

The parliamentary Democratic Party of Moldova is intending to nominate Vladimir Cebotari as its candidate for Chisinau Mayor. This proposal came from the Party’s Chisinau municipal organization.

Before, the Democrats considered nomination to the post of the Party’s new leader Pavel Filip, the country’s former Prime Minister, who had headed the DP municipal organization for several years. However, he refused to, so it was decided to put forward the candidacy of DP Deputy Chairman Vladimir Cebotari.

Meanwhile, the media are reporting that the parliamentary majority, in response to the Prosecutor General’s inquiry, are going to lift the parliamentary immunity off Vladimir Cebotari in order to bring him to stand criminal responsibility. Cebotari stated to the Newsmaker publication that he is aware of his arrest being prepared, but is not going to flee from the country.

“Standing behind these actions is the Interior Minister, Deputy Premier Andrei Nastase. I know more than he thinks. All this is coming from Nastase and from those who ask him to do this”, said Cebotari.

In his words, he has an idea concerning why the Prosecution Service is going to start a legal action against him.

“Nastase should tell everything openly, after which we can start a concrete talk. I did not take bribes, was not involved in criminal schemes, and, unlike him, I did not violate the law. That’s why I am not afraid of an arrest. As for Andrei Nastase, he will have to bear responsibility for his actions one day”, stated Vladimir Cebotari.
