20 september, 2019

President Igor Dodon welcomed the signing of the protocol upon the completion of the sitting of the Moldova-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation.

After meeting with Deputy Premier for Reintegration Vasile Sova and Russian Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev, Dodon wrote on his Facebook page that the interruption between the sessions of the commission was of three years, which negatively affected the development of trade and economic relations with Russia.

“The decisions, taken by the intergovernmental commission will allow rehabilitating full-fledged cooperation between our countries in such fields as energy, agriculture, food industry, transport, construction, as well as in the field of migration, healthcare, culture, science, innovations, sports, interethnic relations, regional cooperation and environment”, Dodon wrote.

He pointed at the importance of continuing the work on developing treaty and legal basis for Moldova-Russia cooperation.

“Now it is very important that the achieved agreements to move on to practical concerns of Government’s work and by the next sitting of the commission our countries to be able to start discussing long-term investment projects Moldova desperately needs”, Dodon wrote.

The commission sitting was held in a closed regime, the Government has not informed about its results so far, while the planned press conference after the sitting was cancelled.
