ION CEBAN CRITICIZES APPEALS COURT DECISION ON ANDREI NASTASE

10 octomber, 2019

"I want to believe that all the court decisions are taken transparently, but the judiciary in the country must still be reformed", commented candidate for Chisinau mayor Ion Ceban of the Party of Socialists on the Appeals Court's decision to declare as legal the Andrei Nastase's victory at early gubernatorial elections in 2018.

The Socialist said at the Wednesday's press conference that the law is common for everyone.

Ceban refuted Nastase's statements that he and Igor Dodon would be involved in the non-recognition of the results of last-year's elections.

"Unfortunately, during the election campaign many opponents are trying to focus on critics and attacks against me. I accept criticism if it is based on real facts. Nastase is a lawyer and if he has evidences, he can address to competent authorities. But if there are no evidences, he would better not engage in making such statements", Ceban said.

He reminded that he has been deeply engaged in negotiations [with ACUM] for implementing the change power in the country.

"Each ACUM deputy knows about my contribution to this common undertaking both at the first and at the second stage [two agreements on ruling coalition - in June and September]. If someone wants to achieve destabilization or early elections by making such statements, that someone must understand his personal responsibility for the consequences", Ceban said.
