OP ACCUSES SOCIALISTS OF VIOLATING ELECTION LEGISLATION

10 octomber, 2019

The Party of Socialists (PSRM) is grossly violating the election legislation both in Chisinau and at local level, while the consideration of complaints about these actions are hampered in the Moldovan Central Election Commission (CEC), maintain leaders of the Our Party [OP, Partidul Nostru] Ilian Casu and Elena Gritco.

They said at the Thursday's press conference that they filed a complaint against PSRM back on October 2, but it has not been considered so far.

"The Partidul Nostru paid 91.2 thousand lei for 22 banners in Chisinau. One can easily calculate that the cost of one of them exceeds 4 thousand lei. The PSRM is declaring the costs for banners within only 37 thousand lei, though these almost flooded the city. Dodon and Ceban, who is PSRM candidate for mayor, are looking on us from every corner. We found out that for Socialists a banner in one of Chisinau's most lively places costs 2.99 lei per week. In our complaint to the CEC we pointed at these terrible discrepancies, but we received no answer so far", Casu said indignantly.

Another tidbit, according to him, is the party costs for road transport.

"The OP has 22 contracts for renting 24 cars to travel to regions, bring campaigning literature from Chisinau. There are sums, paid from the party election fund, as the law provides. At the same time, in case of PSRM, the costs in this field are zero. How is this possible in the last days before local elections?", Casu wonders.

Gritco cited the costs on OP and PSRM banners in Balti, where Partidul Nostru leader Renato Usatii is running for the post of mayor.

"We have paid 64 thousand lei for 12 banners, while the PSRM - 3614 lei for 24 banners. The same situation is in Drochia, Riscani, where OP activists became mayors in 2015. In Riscani, for example, OP banners with an area of 74 square meters cost 21 thousand lei, while Socialists' banners occupy the total area of over 300 sq. m. and cost 172 lei", she resented, adding that the new regime of Dodon and PSRM comes to Moldova instead of oligarch Plahotniuc's regime.

Gritco addressed to representatives of international organizations who are supervising the election campaign with the demand not to be indifferent to what is happening, to make conclusions about tough violations committed by one of ruling parties and record these.
