Moldova President Igor Dodon today met with foreign ambassadors and international organization representatives accredited in Moldova, and stated to them that he will be further backing the Government of Prime Minister Maya Sandu if only the Cabinet will not be going beyond the frames of constitutional norms.

The head of state wrote on his Facebook page afterwards: "We exchanged opinions about the domestic situation in Moldova, indicated the risks that may be caused by the activities of the Sandu Government, and the perspectives of the further functioning of the parliamentary majority. I confirmed the stance of the Presidential Administration, which will be further backing the Government and parliamentary majority on condition that certain political forces and personalities [Premier Maia Sandu] do not go beyond the frames of constitutional norms in their actions", wrote President Dodon.

He expressed conviction that personal or party interests may in no case be placed above the country's national interests.

The President reported also that before that meeting with foreign ambassadors and international organization representatives, he held a separate conversation with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova, Oleg Vasnetsov. "In the context of the present domestic political situation, I reaffirmed the Presidential Administration's commitment to preserving the incumbent parliamentary majority and the Government of Moldova. At the same time, I emphasized that the leaders of political formations must be guided exclusively by the country's national interests and refrain from unilateral actions going contrary to accords in force and outside legal frames", wrote Igor Dodon.

After the meeting with the President, all the foreign diplomats went for a meeting with Prime Minister Maya Sandu, which began at 16.00 hrs and lasted approximately two hours.
