PREMIER MEETS WITH HEADS OF DIPLOMATIC MISSIONS AND REPRESENTATIONS IN MOLDOVA

Prime Minister Ion Chicu met with World Bank Country Manager for Moldova Anna Akhalkatsi in Chisinau on Monday.

The interlocutors discussed the perspectives of further cooperation between the Moldovan Government and the World Bank. The Moldovan Premier thanked the WB head for support, provided over many years. He pointed on the real and measurable results such partnership and cooperation brought.

“The existing partnership between the Republic of Moldova and the World Bank will allow us raising the number of the implemented projects, aimed at stimulating the economic growth and ensuring the population wellbeing”, Chicu said.

In her turn, Anna Akhalkatsi expressed WB’s readiness to support the efforts of the Government in fulfilling the program of the governance, directed to raising the level of Moldovan citizens’ lives.

Economy, reform promotion and investment attraction were also discussed at premier’s meeting with European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Associated Director in Moldova Octavian Costas. Ion Chicu confirmed that the new Government is committed to continuation of reforms for the benefit of citizens and expressed gratitude for the EBRD’s many-year support to various projects in the republic.

The EBRD representative assured the Moldovan Premier that the bank will continue supporting the efforts on developing the Moldovan economy and will keep financing projects in this direction.

According to the Government’s press service, Premier Ion Chicu also met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USA to Moldova Dereck J. Hogan. The premier assured the American diplomat of strong adherence of the current Cabinet of Ministers to deepening of bilateral relations and the enhancement of trade and economic cooperation with the American state.

“I want to confirm our commitments on fulfilling the action plan, implied by the EU-Moldova Association Agreement. Already by the end of this week we will apply in practice a number of actions directed to improvement of citizens’ lives”, Ion Chicu said.

The premier thanked the ambassador for US Government’s openness in relation to our country, as well as for the important support, provided for implementing democratic reform. At the same time, Ion Chicu stated that his Cabinet of Ministers will put all efforts for achieving the Moldova’s goals in the shortest possible time.

In his turn, the US Ambassador confirmed the US support to all the projects the Government leadership will be implementing in citizens’ interests.

“I am glad to see you in this new post and I hope that together we will achieve good and fruitful for Moldova results, especially in what concerns the promotion of reforms in all fields”, Dereck Hogan said.
