PRESIDENT DODON SAYS HIS PERSONAL PRIORITY IS TO GET PLAHOTNIUC BACK HOME IN HANDCUFFS

15 january, 2020

Moldova President Igor Dodon stated to journalists that at the present moment his personal priority is to bring fugitive oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc back home in handcuffs.

On Tuesday, Dodon attended the meeting of the Party of Socialists’ All-Republican Council as the informal leader of the Party, and said to journalists afterwards that one of the chief tasks for the President, Parliament, Government and the entire leadership of Moldova is to bring to responsibility all those people, who participated in various shady schemes and corruption actions.

“All those who violated the law must be put to jail. As far as Vlad Plahotniuc is concerned, I will tell you: our priority now is to deliver him back to his native country – in handcuffs”, stressed the head of state.

Igor Dodon reminded that at the end of 2019 the Supreme Security Council recommended Moldovan profiled agencies to address to the governments of the United States, Great Britain and Romania with an inquiry if Plahotniuc was staying in either of those countries.

“And such inquiries were really made. Also, last October the Moldovan Ministry of the Interior applied for declaring Vlad Plahotniuc as wanted internationally via the Interpol. So far, I have no information if such decision was taken or not. But concerning other personalities, such decisions have already been taken – in particular concerning Member of Parliament Ilan Shor and ex-Member Constantin Tutu”, said the President.

As was already reported by Infotag, on Monday U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that the fugitive Moldovan oligarch and his immediate family members have been included into the USA sanction list.
