STATE CHANCELLERY OFFICE TO LAUNCH MONITORING OF GOVERNMENTAL ACTION PLAN

The Republic of Moldova’s State Chancellery Office will shortly launch on its website an instrument for monitoring of the governmental Action Plan realization, it was decided at the ordinary working meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Ion Chicu said that this must be an interactive instrument, so that all citizens could receive prompt information about the Government’s work. Yet a second instrument, to be started soon as well, should ensure the monitoring of loud cases of abuses by law enforcement agencies with respect to economic agents.

The first instrument is ready and it will be available for all willing citizens very soon. And the second instrument will be run by the Prosecutor General's Office, which will be systematically informing the civil society about the progress of high-profile cases.

The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of the Interior and Ministry of Finance to prepare by February 15 a program for consolidation of the institution of the district police officer because such officers remain in touch with the local population more than any other public servants and therefore must know all the people residing in their districts.

“Had the district policeman in the Costesti village [where a young man was bruised to death by his drunken neighbors on the New Year night] worked properly according to rules, there would be no such tragedy because villagers know everybody in their populated area. We need to prepare everything necessary for improving the institution of the district police officer – logistics, salaries, training possibilities and so forth”, said the Premier.
