PAS NOMINATES OLESEA STAMATI AS CANDIDATE FOR BY-ELECTIONS IN HINCESTI
The Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) has nominated ex-Minister of Justice Olesea Stamati as its candidate for the parliamentary by-election to be held in single-member constituency #38 “Hincesti” on March 15. The decision was taken at the last Saturday’s meeting of the PAS National Political Council.
PAS Chairperson Maia Sandu called all the rest pro-European organizations, first of all the DA Platform, to support candidate Stamati, “who has good chances for a victory and who will become a deputy able to meet citizens’ expectations”. Maia Sandu stressed that Olesea Stamati is a non-partisan candidate.
“Mrs. Stamati, who is a former Minister of Justice in the Government I headed, is a real fighter against corruption and for the judiciary reform and a high specialist in law. The Moldova Parliament is in need of such professionals, who can be fully trusted. We regard Mrs. Stamati as a very valuable candidate”, said Maia Sandu.
PAS Deputy Chairman Mihai Popsoi voiced disappointment that the political bloc ACUM (PAS + DA) has failed to nominate a common candidate for the Hincesti by-elections. He wrote in the social networks that the Stamati candidacy was discussed with the DA Platform but in vain: the DA proposed in response to nominate businessman Alexandru Machedon.
Infotag's dossier: Olesea Stamati was born in Chisinau in Chisinau. She is a jurist by her university education and has a practical work experience as a lawyer and an independent law expert. In June through November 2019 she had headed the Ministry of Justice.
