DA PLATFORM CANDIDATE QUITS ELECTION RACE AND DA DECIDES TO APPOINT NO NEW ONE

The political party called Platform “Demnitate si Adevar” [DA, “Dignity and Justice”] has decided to nominate no new candidate for the parliamentary by-elections in the Hincesti constituency.

The DA leadership wrote in a Statement issued on Friday that the party has thus decided to not divide or upset the electorate, regarding its decision to be “our final attempt to save the unity of the Right segment and its traditional alliances” [meaning apparently the ACUM bloc]”.

“The DA Platform regards the by-elections at Hincesti through the prism of the need for unification of Right forces, particularly in the light of the great political confrontation to occur later in 2020 [ordinary presidential election]. We regret that the pro-European parties have preferred to nominate their candidates without a prior agreement [e.g. ex-Minister of Justice Olesea Stamati has thus become the PAS candidate], having thus repudiated the principles that had ensured success at the February 24, 2019 parliamentary elections”, said the DA Statement.
