PUN RECALLS ITS CANDIDATE FROM HINCESTI BY-ELECTIONS IN FAVOR OF INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE

29 january, 2020

The National Unity Party is revoking its candidate Vlad Turcanu, a PUN Deputy Chairman, from the parliamentary by-election to be held in the single-member constituency #38 “Hincesti” on March 15. The PUN announced that it would support independent candidate Gheorghe Cobzac.

PUN Chairman MP Octavian Ticu said at a news conference on Tuesday that the candidate to be elected to the Parliament from this single-member constituency must have a very good knowledge of the Hincesti Raion, its populated areas and the people, whose interests he is going to represent, and “must be a politician strong enough for tackling not only local questions but also national problems.

“Mr. Cobzac fully meets the principles of meritocracy. He has a good knowledge of the situation of the Hincesti constituency and the republic as a whole. He has never doubted the correctness of the ideas he promotes. And he is renowned for his waging an irreconcilable struggle against the [Plahotniuc] regime as a LDP deputy in the previous Parliament. He demonstrated the second highest result in the February 24, 2019 parliamentary election, standing for the ACUM bloc. And he certainly deserves the privilege to be a deputy of the incumbent Parliament. We are thus recalling candidate Vlad Turcanu and announcing our unconditional support for candidate Cobzac, who has all chances to defeat in Hincesti the representatives of the Party of Socialists and the Democratic Party”, stated Octavian Ticu.
