MOLDOVAN AND FOREIGN DIPLOMATS DISCUSS MOLDOVA-EU RELATIONS AND COOPERATION PERSPECTIVES
Relations between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union and the perspectives of cooperation within the Eastern Partnership Program framework were discussed online Wednesday between Moldovan Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Oleg Tulea, Ambassadors of European Union member countries accredited in Chisinau, and Ambassador Peter Michalko, the Head of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Moldova.
Oleg Tulea informed the foreign diplomats about the efforts the Moldovan leadership is making to expand cooperation with the European Union. He confirmed his Government's strong commitment to promoting the European integration process.
"Even during the pandemic, the Moldovan authorities are continuing to work on questions of higher importance on the RM-EU agenda and are determined to brisk up the activities to achieve a tangible progress on our path of reforms", said the Minister.
In his words, lately the Moldovan leadership undertook a package of measures to investigate the bank fraud, including through international cooperation with key partners. The foreign Ambassadors were also informed about the adoption of the Law on Preventing and Combating of Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism, which was brought into line with European standards.
As for the draft Law on non-governmental organizations, Oleg Tulea said this bill is going to be approved in a final reading in the nearest future. This adoption is one of the main conditions put forth by the European Union for providing a second tranche (30 million euros) of the EU macro-financial assistance.
