MOLDOVAN PARLIAMENT'S PLENARY MEETING UPSET FOR A THIRD DAY IN SUCCESSION

07 july, 2020

On Monday, an extraordinary plenary meeting of the Moldovan Parliament was upset for a 3rd day in a line. Today, only 50 MPs came to the session room namely 49 from the still governing coalition of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) and the Democratic Party (DPM) plus one independent deputy. Meanwhile, for a quorum in the 101-member Parliament of Moldova, it is necessary to have minimum 51 MPs in the room.

Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii announced: "We are stating with regret that our colleagues from other factions keep boycotting plenary meetings. We have no quorum for starting the plenary meeting today".

Zinaida Greceanii also said that next Wednesday, July 8, the Parliament Permanent Bureau will convene for its ordinary working meeting, "at which we will decide what we should do next. As far as I can understand, they [the opposition] do not wish to put into force the laws that are badly needed by the entire Moldovan society".
