DA DEPUTY ADDRESSES TO CONSTITUTIONAL COURT CONCERNING GOVERNMENT’S ADOPTING LAWS UNDER ITS OWN RESPONSIBILITY

13 july, 2020

Deputy Chairman of the DA Platform party MP Igor Munteanu has applied to the Constitutional Court concerning the adoption of laws by the Government, namely amendments to the State Budget, under its own responsibility i.e. by-passing the Parliament.

The party wrote in its press release that Munteanu wants to receive answers to the following questions: “Must a parliament plenary meeting be convened concerning the said laws in case the first plenary meeting failed to take place for lack of a quorum?” and “Is it possible to perceive the absence of a majority of deputies from plenary meetings as their refusal to hear the Government’s program?”

“As the Government has adopted 4 laws by using a disputable procedure, I believe that the Government has thus exceeded its plenary powers and has interfered into what the Constitutional Court named as the Parliament’s legislative monopoly”, believes Igor Munteanu.
