IGOR DODON SAYS THAT PARLIAMENTARY OPPOSITION HAVE NO VOTES ENOUGH FOR DISMISSING GOVERNMENT

17 july, 2020

Moldova President Igor Dodon believes that the parliamentary opposition will not have ballots enough for dismissing the Ion Chicu Government.

In the course of his traditional weekly live Q&A communication with citizens on his YouTube channel and social networks held every Friday morning, President Dodon said: “It is obvious that somebody wants very much to destabilize situation in the republic. Look, on Thursday they brought to parliament an initiative to vote no confidence in the Government, and brought Transnistrian conflict veterans out for a street protest. Besides an economic crisis, they want to provoke yet a political crisis”.

The head of state said that like any government, the Chicu team certainly has drawbacks “but on the whole it manages the situation”.

“The Chicu Government meets its social commitments and realizes social projects. The Moldovan economy is developing. The Government has initiated the process of re-nationalization of the Chisinau airport that must return into public ownership. The Prosecutor General's Office works quite well, and there is progress in the investigation of the one-billion-dollar bank fraud. Now, seeing that all this is working, our opponents want to destabilize the situation in order to stop the criminal prosecution of bandits”, said the President.

Igor Dodon believes that in the opposition camp, “everyone is winning, except Maia Sandu, who has fallen into an oligarchs’ trap”.

“She has changed the agenda of her Party [of Action and Solidarity, PAS] and decided to act according to the agenda of Andrei Nastase [leader of the DA Platform party, a PAS’ rival], who has already nothing to lose”, stated President Igor Dodon, who is convinced that the initiative of expressing a vote of no confidence in the Chicu Government will suffer a failure.
