DA PLATFORM SUMS UP RESULTS OF ITS WORK IN PARLIAMENT

22 july, 2020

The opposition DA Platform party has summed up the results of its activities during the Parliament’s Spring-Summer Session that was completed on July 20. Speaking at a news conference on Wednesday, its leader Andrei Nastase stated that the DA faction was the most active of all factions in the forum.

“Our deputies have put forward a total of 87 bills [since the incumbent Parliament started working in February 2019], including 53 – during this past Spring-Summer Session, i.e. more than any other faction, though the authorities ignored many of our proposals and motions”, said Nastase.

In his words, it was only thanks to the DA Platform that quite many important initiatives became a reality e.g. provision of survivor’s pensions to the family members of medical workers who died of COVID-19; the allocation of 100 million lei to the agricultural sector; free health insurance policies for veterans of wars, and other.

However, he said, despite the DA Platform’s energetic efforts, the parliamentary majority blocked allowances for technical unemployment, higher subventions for agriculture to an amount of 600 million lei, tax vacations for agrarians, establishment of a governmental Department for veterans’ affairs; forming of a parliamentary ad hoc commission to investigate into President Igor Dodon’s enrichment.

Andrei Nastase voiced regret that the parliamentary majority [the Party of Socialists and the Democratic Party] had completed the Spring-Summer Session so early and so suddenly. He is convinced this was done “exceptionally for electoral purposes”.
