FOUR PARLIAMENTARIES LEAVE PRO-MOLDOVA

26 octomber, 2020

Four deputies have left the pro-Moldova Party and their namesake parliamentary group – Sergiu Sirbu, Grigore Repesciuc, Eleonora Graur and Ruxanda Glavan. Each of them reported the news last Friday evening on the social networks.

The first to do that by writing in the Facebook was Sergiu Sirbu. He announced his leaving the group, but wrote, “I will continue cooperation with deputies from that group”.

MP Eleonora Graur wrote that she was leaving pro-Moldova “for many reasons”, but did not think it was necessary to explain.

“I also regret that Mr. Andrian Candu has become a hostage to this uneasy situation – a talented politician, who sincerely wishes to build a European and up-to-date political party, but not all depends on him…” wrote Graur.

Grigore Repesciuc also preferred not to elaborate on the reasons of his quitting the party.

And Ruxanda Glavan stated that she had felt certain doubts yet at joining Pro-Moldova last May “because I have learnt lessons from my past political school”.

“I am leaving the party. To avoid speculations, interpretations or conspiracy theories, I want to make it clear that I am not joining any other party, even an “informal’ one, as some people like to say. I will join those people who are against Dodon! I will continue my work as an independent deputy in the opposition until a snap parliamentary election. As for the forthcoming presidential election, we have a possibility to begin everything from the beginning, to build a country with good, worthy people”, Glavan wrote in the social networks.

All the four MPs have stated they will remain independent parliamentarians and will not accede to any other factions. According to the parliamentary Rules of Procedure, a deputy actually may not join other factions during the first 6 months after leaving his or her faction.

The said 4 deputies were elected to the Parliament on the Democratic Party ticket. They had stayed in pro-Moldova five to 8 months. Earlier, three of the four, namely Sirbu, Repesciuc and Glavan, had started they would support candidate Violeta Ivanov of the Sor Party at the November 1 presidential election. The pro-Moldova Party, which has no presidential candidate of its own, has not yet stated officially about its support for any contender.
