The Congress of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), at which President Igor Dodon will be elected chairman of the party, has been postponed to December 30. Dodon said this on Friday during his weekly live program "President Igor Dodon Answers" on social networks.
"Earlier, there was a different date. However, they decided to postpone the congress, since the current president, according to the law, cannot be a party member. I will complete my presidential mandate and then we will hold a PSRM congress," Dodon stated.
According to him, until the end of the mandate he would promulgate all laws adopted in parliament, and also take part in the summit of the heads of state of the CIS, which will most likely be held on-line.
"After that, we will transfer power to the new president, we will ensure the transfer of power. The issue of holding the inauguration on December 24 or 25 is being discussed," Dodon stressed.
Last week, Igor Dodon announced that he will again lead the Party of Socialists at the congress on December 18. This decision was made by the Republican Council of the Party of Socialists (PSRM). Dodon resigned at the PSRM congress on December 18, 2016, after winning the presidential election. According to the law, the president cannot be a party member.
